KIDSKI* 2023 REGISTRATION FORM!

Snowflake KidSki Program 2023!

Snowflake has hosted a Kids’ Ski program for 26 years, and we invite beginning skiers to participate in Snowflake KidSki 2023. Snowflake KidSki begins on Sunday Jan 8th at 1:30, and continues each Sunday, 2:00 – 3:30, through Feb 12th, at Snowflake Nordic Ski Center (February 19th as a snow/cold day).

Continuing a  long-established model, KidSki is intended to get kids on skis, and to develop the basic skills which make nordic skiing fun. Our Coaches are experienced high school skiers, many of whom began in KidSki, who will be following the time-tested KidSki lesson plan. The goal is to make lessons safe, fun, and to give each participant a sense of improvement and accomplishment each week.

Beginning skiers will learn the Classic (stride) ski technique. Older kids, with previous Classic Ski experience, may request Beginning Skate technique lessons.

Snowflake KidSki is open to ages 4-16. Kids will be placed in groups of 7-9, based upon age and experience. Each group will have 2-3 coaches. We will also offer Adult Classic and Skate classes for parents who would like to learn basic skills while their child is at KidSki.

Cost:

Snowflake Members – $45 ($35 for siblings)

Non-Members – $55 ($50 for siblings)

Starting last year we added the option for families to take the gear home from the first day of KidSki until the final day of KidSki. We got a lot of positive feedback so we decided to continue it this year! Take-home rentals have an added fee in order to accommodate for lost revenue from rentals during the week. Pricing for take-home and Sunday-only rentals are as follows:

Take-Home rental (pick up January 7th or the first day (January 8th) and return on last day of KidSki):
Members: $50/pair
Non-Members: $60/pair
Security Deposit: $100 check/pair payable to Snowflake (will only be cashed if the equipment is not returned in working order at the end of KidSki, otherwise it will be returned to you)

Sunday-Only rental (will be set aside for use each Sunday and returned at the end of the lesson):
Members: $20/pair
Non-Members: $30/pair

In order to alleviate congestion the first day, we ask that skiers stop by the chalet during one of the following ski/boot fitting times to get sized for equipment:
Wednesday, December 28th 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, January 5th 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Please have your child(ren) wear or bring thick socks that they will use when skiing to make sure we get the right size!

Want to coach KidSki? Snowflake KidSki is looking for fun and enthusiastic coaches to help make magic happen this winter! Did you know, high school and college skiers are the kids’ favorites? Did you know Jessie Diggins started her career in a youth ski program just like Snowflake KidSki?

Coaches are the most important volunteer position in KidSki. We have an easy to use curriculum with daily lesson plans for each level. Coaches ages 16+ will be paired with another coach to have fun in the snow with a group of 8-10 skiers. Assistant coaches, ages 12-15, will help ensure kids are having fun and keep the crew together out on the trails.

Dates, times, and attendance: Snowflake KidSki begins on Sunday Jan 8th at 1:30, and continues each Sunday, 2:00 – 3:30, through Feb 12th, at Snowflake Nordic Ski Center (February 19th as a snow/cold day). Coaches are asked to be on-site from 1:45-3:45 each week (1:00-3:45 on the first week, January 8th). While the kids love it when their favorite coach is there every week, we understand you may have to miss a week or two throughout the 6 week session- happy to work with your schedule!
